In it’s Oscar night TV spot, JCPenney says, “America, you deserve to look better….” A message to resonate with the masses? The TV spot certainly puts forth a strong feel-good message, tugging at the heart strings & reminding viewers of Penney’s century of retailing service. But does it resonate? Is it good enough to light a fire under JCP sales? Time will tell. CEO Ron Johnson does seem to be pushing some of the right buttons. Unfortunately, JCP has continues an uphill struggle against some really, really good competition….
